Community Guidelines
The Spirit of Verdict
Verdict was built as a judgment-free, anonymous courtyard where people can candidly unpack moral dilemmas, social dilemmas, workplace friction, and relationship conflict. To make this safe for everyone, our community thrives on mutual anonymity, candid empathy, and rigorous anti-doxxing standards.
The 5 Golden Rules
Never attempt to de-anonymize an author. Never post identifying "clues", investigate social media handles, or hunt down who wrote a story.
Focus on what occurred, not who it happened with. Replace real names with generic aliases, omit specific company names, and remove contact information.
Cast verdicts honestly based on the moral dilemma presented. Do not run voting scripts, brigade polls, or coordinate artificial consensus.
Heated disagreement is welcomed; cruelty is not. Challenge the author's decision or perspective without resorting to slurs, threats, or harassment.
Strictly Prohibited Content
- Doxxing & Personal Identifying Information (PII): Publishing phone numbers, home addresses, unredacted messaging screenshots, private email addresses, or social media links.
- Hate Speech & Discrimination: Attacks promoting hatred or violence based on caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, or ethnicity.
- Non-Consensual Intimate Content: Threatening to release or discussing non-consensual sexually explicit content or revenge pornography.
- Threats & Encouraging Harm: Any statement threatening bodily injury, extortion, or encouraging suicide or self-injury.
- Spam & Commercial Promotions: Affiliate links, promotional codes, automated bot posts, marketing schemes, or paid promotion.
How Verdicts Work
Every story posted to Verdict features an active 3-way community poll:
- "Nah, you're good" — The community agrees that the author acted reasonably or was justified in their choices.
- "You're wrong" — The community determines that the author made a mistake, overstepped boundaries, or acted unfairly.
- "Need more context" — The situation lacks crucial context, evidence, or details to render a fair judgment.
Community Enforcement & The Report System
The community actively shapes the safety of Verdict. If you encounter any content violating these guidelines:
- Click the Report flag on the post or comment.
- When multiple independent members flag an item, our automated precautionary threshold hides the story from public view until human moderators examine it.
- Reports are completely anonymous to the author.
