Today was one of those rare days that reminded me why I chose teaching over a comfortable corporate desk job. I'm a first-year high school teacher. Most days are filled with relentless imposter syndrome, endless grading, lesson planning that never quite goes according to schedule, and constantly second-guessing whether anything I say actually sticks in these kids' heads. Today, a group of students showed up at my staff desk with a batch of handmade cards and origami flowers, telling me that our classroom is the one place in school where they feel heard and not judged. It seems trivial on the surface, but when you're just starting out and quietly wondering if you're failing, hearing that your presence actually brings comfort to young minds hits right in the chest. A little reminder that sometimes, quietly showing up for others is more than enough.
