Caught up with an acquaintance today whom I've followed on Instagram for a couple of years. We rarely chatted, but today she posted wedding throwback portraits, so I swiped up with a casual: "Wait, is that your husband?" She smiled and said yes. Out of curiosity, I asked what year she was born, assuming she was in her mid-20s. She replied: "2006." My jaw hit the floor. She is barely 19 years old, already married, managing an entire household with an in-law family, and her husband is six years older. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in my college dorm crying over calculus assignments, stressing about attendance criteria, and burning toast in the toaster. It's wild how two people the exact same age can inhabit entirely different dimensions of adulthood. Definitely closed my phone and opened my textbooks immediately after that.
