It has been a full year since my last relationship ended, and I think something inside my emotional wiring completely shut down. I don't feel attracted to anyone anymore. Not romantically, and not even physically. I've gone out on a couple of dates and talked to decent guys, but there is zero spark. It's just polite banter, swapping Spotify playlists, exchanging work rants, and then fading out. I tell myself I prefer taking things slow and building a foundation of friendship first, but deep down I know it's just apathy. I deliberately overpack my calendar with work and workouts so I have an excuse to take 8 hours to reply to a text. Keeping myself exhausted is my shield. The terrifying part isn't that I'm single; it's the realization that I simply don't have the emotional bandwidth or appetite to let another human being enter my world again.
